ABOUT
Kendra Lund (she/her) is a 23-year-old Washingtonian soprano currently completing her Master’s degree in Voice Performance and Literature at The Eastman School of Music under Kathryn Cowdrick. Lund holds a Bachelor’s degree from Furman University in Vocal Performance and German Studies where she studied with Dr. Grant Knox.
Lund recently won SongFest’s prestigious Art Song Prize alongside her collaborator, Renea Li. While attending as a Young Artist this summer, Lund coached her program with Martin Katz and performed for the Greenville community. The program was inspired by overconsumption of clean water by A.I. data centers and focused on water-related repertoire by underrepresented composers. The successful recital raised funds for a non-profit in Upstate South Carolina, TreesUpstate.
Previous performances include Barber’s A Hand of Bridge (Geraldine), Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld (Diana), and Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance (Mabel) at Furman University as well as Handel’s Agrippina (Poppea) at Chicago Summer Opera. In concert repertoire she has performed solos in Handel’s Messiah and Vivaldi’s Gloria at Furman University and presented the world premiere of Harbison’s “Hidden Paths,” in 2024 at SongFest.
Accompanying her Master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music, Lund is a part of the Catherine Filene Shouse Certificate of Achievement program with Eastman’s Institute for Music Leadership, where she holds an intern position at both Killer Queen Opera Companyand BIODANCE Inc.
Lund’s passion for creating tangible change through moving and radical performances, recital curation, and education is nothing new. In November of 2025, Lund produced “Eco-Art Song and the Climate Crisis,” which raised several hundred dollars for a local climate non-profit. Lund plans to continue to raise awareness of sociopolitical and environmental issues and make a positive impact in her community as a soprano, recital curator, and activist.
